Theological Science is exactly what the term implies; i.e., it is the scientific explanation and understanding of the logical reasoning on, and the conscious application of, the principle of Man’s spiritual at-one-ment with the Infinite Omnipresence (or if you prefer, God, or the Cosmic Mind, or the Universal Mind, or the Supreme Presence Power, or the Creator, or the Creative Principle, or Omnipotence, as you will), which is spiritually omnipresent and, therefore, interpenetrating all things, creatures, and beings in and of existence while permeating the All, or Whole, of the universe at one and the same time, and the same at every point of His, or Its, Spiritual Omnipresence.

Logically, there could not be any place in, nor part of, the universe from which God or the Infinite Omnipresence could be absent, lest were that possible, that place in, or part of, the universe should be devoid of the sustaining, maintaining influence of the Creative and Sustaining Principle and might become chaotic. Since there is not the slightest evidence of disorder anywhere in the observable universe, it follows that God, the Creator, or Creative Principle, must be sustaining or maintaining the Whole of Creation, because any power or intelligence less than God, the Supreme Presence Power, must be unequal to sustaining the universe and all things therein and thereof.

Because of the Spiritual Omnipresence of the Sustainer-Maintainer, it follows that a very definite part or degree of the omnipresent spirituality of God, or the Universal Mind, or Cosmic Power-Intelligence, must be within you, as well as about you, and you must be, as was declared to be a Truth: “The Temple of the Holy Spirit which is in you, which you have of God” (1st Corinthians 6:19).

It was Paul, the able disciple, who declared in a letter to his friends at Corinth: “What? Know you not that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit which is in you, which you have of God, and you are not your own?” (1st Corinthians 6:19). And if you will refer to the gospel taught by the Christ (according to Luke, who was said to have been of legal mind), you will observe the same Truth explained in a different way: “And when He was demanded of the Pharisee just when the kingdom of God should come (about which He had been preaching), He answered them and said, `The kingdom of God cometh not with observation’ (you will never ‘see’ the kingdom of God with mortal eyes; it must be a conscious experience in your life and affairs) (21). ‘Neither shall they say, lo here! or, lo there! for, behold the kingdom of God is within you’” (in the realm of Mind, as your Spirituality, or Reality, which you have of God) (see Luke 17:20, 21).

So, you see, if you will reason logically you will know later when you have learned how to apply the principles of this profound Truth, that there is within you a very definite part, or degree, of the universally omnipresent Spirituality of God, which, although latent or dormant in the majority of the peoples of earth, is nevertheless a subtle, dynamic, silent Power and Intelligence which will counsel, advise, and direct you in all your ways, for your own great good, when you have been ‘born again’. “Verily, verily, I say unto you: Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God” (See John 3:3). See also: “That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is Spirit. Marvel not that I said unto you, you must be born again” (John 3:6,7).

The only reason for the rebirth in spiritual understanding is because of the erroneous conscious educational development of the average individual; because he slowly undergoes a conscious development in misunderstanding and, therefore, misinterpretation, of the Truth as taught by the learned ancient scholars and Masters who had proved the truth of their findings in their own lives and affairs, thus proving the infallibility and immutability of the universal Law of Cause and Effect: That for any and every condition in the life of the living individual there must have been a cause; and for every cause established in Thought, there must eventuate a result, effect, or condition of a nature identical to the cause (Thought) which compelled it. Truly, your present condition of life, your environment and affairs, are but the results of your past habitual and predominant mental attitude. “For as a man thinks in his heart (his emotional center), so is he” (Proverbs 23:7).

The spirituality of you, which is your definite part or degree of the omnipresent Spirit of God, is your true Self—you in Reality, the Real you—which you recognize as “I” when you declare, “I am ‘I’!” And it is this which you must recognize as your innate, inherent, inner Self (or Source, or Mind, or Spirit…One with God spiritually), in order to be “born again of the Spirit.”

The majority have been taught that this inner Center, or Source of all supply (intelligent direction) is “conscience,” which is never defined beyond the idea that it is the warning, guiding, advising, directing source within, or the “still, small voice” within. And that is the error by and through which the vast majority of humanity have lost their natural God-given heritage in this life. They seek for their power without, in the objective, instead of within, in the subjective world of Mind!

The average person gives little or no attention to the subtle promptings that arise from within him to make him conscious of erroneous Thought. And note, such promptings (always from within; never from without) are infallible; but because man has been taught to depend upon what he imagines he ‘knows’ as education, he rarely if ever gives proper heed to the great gift that is innate and inherent within him from the moment of his birth into this earth life.

If you have ever been witness to the birth of a child, you must have observed that the infant body as it emerges must inhale a first breath in order to live, to be alive and continue to live. As the seed is sown and pregnancy occurs, the tiny cell begins development attached to the mother’s body by a cord (umbilical), and it is the food, liquids, and the Life-giving Principle in the air the mother breathes to live that nourish and develop the unborn body, through her blood stream.

At parturition the infant body, attached to its mother, must inhale the first breath of Life in order to become a living body. If it does not breathe, then the attending obstetrician or midwife will try to induce it to breathe. If it does not inhale the first breath and cannot be induced to do so, it is declared to be a ‘stillbirth’ and is put away (buried, cremated, or otherwise disposed of) for purposes of sanitation. If, however, the newly born infant body inhales the first breath of Life, it is named and identified as a living entity, or being, and continues to grow and develop, perhaps into old age until, on the wings of the last exhalation, the Life Principle departs from that physical body (or temple) and returns to from whence it originally came as the first inhalation, or Life-giving Principle.

The first breath of Life is the animating influence and, with it, Life begins. Breathing, or the process of respiration, receives little or no sensible, intelligent attention in the Western world, while the ancient scholars and Masters knew it as the process of partaking of the Life Principle of Omnipotence during existence in earth. Life begins with the first inhalation and ends with the final exhalation. And yet there is no death. ‘Death’ means ‘end’, and there is never an end to anything. What appears to be death, or end, of the earth-life is merely a changing of condition from spirituality in the physical temple to spirituality in the ‘ocean’ of the Spiritual Omnipresence of Omnipotence, or “the Father,” or God, in the Cosmos.

The first inhalation of the breath of Life is actually the introduction into the newly born infant body of its definite part or degree of the Spirit of God omnipresent; and the newly born body (Man) immediately becomes spiritually one with God. His part, or degree, of the Spirit of God is his reality within physical form. The physical is not a reality; it is subject to change of form, from physical to elemental. The Reality, or Spirituality, is never anything but Spirit—Reality—whether within the physical form (temple) or in universal form. Truly, spiritually, man and God are in constant, eternal at-one-ment because of the Spiritual Omnipresence of God, the Reality.

“And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and man became a living Soul (Spirit)” (Genesis 2:7).

So, you have within your physical form a definite part, or degree, of the Spirit of God, as your spirituality, which within you is omnipresent in every part of your physical body, in even the most infinitesimal cell of your physical being, and you are not your own! You, the physical being, are God’s dwelling-place, or temple. The ‘I’ of Reality is the Spirituality, a very definite part or degree of the Spirit of God, making you spiritually one with God. And when you are born again in spiritual understanding and appreciation of your own Reality, or Self, as in actual at-one-ment with the Creator, you begin to develop the ability to take on the attributes of your `Father’, which is in the ‘kingdom of heaven’ within you.

When you understand and develop the ability to have this Self of you work for you in all your affairs, the fetters of ignorance binding you to fear, lack, loss, limitation, discord, illness, poverty, failure, or other form of distress (all of which is due to conscious ignorance) are cast off and you emerge in your understanding, free to acquire your true estate of life-long health, successful achievement, and consequent happiness in successful living, thinking, and doing. This is the allegorical interpretation of the admonition: “Except a man be born again he cannot see the kingdom of God” (John 3:3). And, “the kingdom of God is within you” (Luke 17:21).

It depends entirely upon you and your desire for personal development, or self-improvement through Self-knowledge, and your willingness to try to learn to apply the principles of your new knowledge, regardless of what you imagine you believe or have been told. Your own development will not in any way conflict with your philosophical or religious convictions. There is no necessity for apostasy. There is but the one God, as there is but one nave or hub of a wheel to which all the spokes are attached from all different directions. All religions and religious groups aim at the one God, though they all approach from many different sources or beliefs. Let there be no bigotry, respect the beliefs of all men, for all men are, or should be, entitled to the right of individual belief, with our respectful consideration and help. “Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself.”

In this training you will be taught not only what you must do, and why you must do so, but how to do what is necessary for your personal development and self-improvement for the attainment of health, happiness, prosperity, and the degree of success you want and need. The author of this instruction has proved, in his own life and affairs, the effectiveness of the principles he teaches. What he has achieved has been accomplished by a large number of other men and women, which you can, if you will, do also.

The “Truth that will make you free” is not by any means a recent discovery. It was known to and practiced by the ancient Masters of the Great Lodge of Mystics as early as 3,600 B.C. It was taught by Confucius (K’ung Fu-Tze, 478 B.C.) and by Ptolemy 1st (Egypt, 323–283 B.C.), as well as the Master who was responsible for the gathering together of the great Alexandrian Library, Ptolemy 2nd (Philadelphus, Egypt, 283–247 B.C).

Gautama Buddha founded the Buddhist religion on these very principles 483 B.C., and the Christ, after having been trained in the Judaic faith as a boy, later learned this Wisdom from the Master Kaspar at the temple of Persepolis, Persia; from the Master Lahmas, in India; and at the lamasery of Changu Narain, Nepal, returning to be christed as the Seventh Master at Cairo, Egypt, from whence He returned to His people (the Hebrews) to teach them the great Truth and the Law, for which He was condemned and banished.

Socrates taught this same Truth at his school 469–399 B.C. And long afterward, in 1710–1780 A.D., the Comte de Saint Germaine (the Wonder Man) taught the newer version for the New Age. He later taught in France and Italy, and his teachings have been an inspiration to many scholars.

This Wisdom was symbolized and given symmetrical form in the great Pyramid on the plateau of Gizeh, near the Nile. The Sphinx has puzzled the most sagacious mentalities of history with its secret—the Truth of the Power of Creative Thought in Silence.

Down through the ages man has insisted upon searching for the understanding of the principles of his True Being. Searching in every age, he has failed in his quest largely because he has depended for the most part on teachers who have been doing his thinking for him. Those teachers had misunderstood and therefore misinterpreted the secrets and the wisdom of the world’s ancient wise Masters.

The Wisdom of the Ages, however, was agreed on the Truth that you have within you a mighty Power, anxious, ready, and willing to do your bidding, regardless of whether your bidding is correct or erroneous. This Power within you is your only power in this life, and it is easily capable of producing in your life and affairs whatsoever you consciously create in your desire.

This Power within you has been described in many different ways, and by various names, depending upon the teacher or delineator, but all agree (philosophically, religiously, scientifically, or otherwise) that the Power within is definitely defined.

In religious Thought we find such names or titles as God, Jehovah, Buddha, Brahma, Vishnu, Allah, etc., and we note that Jesus referred to the Power within as “Father,” declaring: “I and the Father are one; I am in the Father, and the Father in me” (John 10:30 and 10:38).

In psychology and metaphysics, we find scientific explanations tending to describe that Inner Power as Mind, Subjective Mind, Sub-conscious Mind, Super Mind, etc. You must remember that “a rose by any other name would still be as sweet,” and that the name ascribed to the Power within means little, if anything. The fact is that you must come into an understanding of your Inner Power, locate It within you, and then develop the ability to express It from within you, into your objective (outside) life and affairs, for the benefit of yourself and others, if you would be successful and powerful in all your ways.

Your correct conscious understanding of the Power Within you will naturally lead to your Personal development…your development of the Inner Person…which, when objectively (outwardly) expressed (as Thought, word, and deed) becomes what is commonly referred to as ‘personality’. After all, personality is nothing more nor less than the outward expression of the Inner Person; and, dependent upon your degree of understanding, will be your ability to express your Self weakly or forcefully. The recognition of tremendous Power Within, naturally compels powerful expression.

The application of the principles outlined in this Course of Training for Personal Development is a conscious activity, dependent upon your developed ability to control your Thought processes. These principles, when applied, will bring proven results, in the name of your God, or Jehovah, or Allah, or Buddha, or Jesus, or any God, or even in the absence of a consciousness of God. Since The Theological Science Society, Int., is a non-sectarian association, it will depend upon your own personal interpretation as to how you will choose to follow instructions.

The first principle, then, of this training is in the fact that Mind is creative, and conditions, environment, and all experiences of your life and affairs are the result of your past habitual and predominant mental attitude. The attitude of your Consciousness necessarily depends upon what you think, and for this reason the secret of all power, all achievement, and all possessions is in your method of thinking. You become a Mystic when you become Master of Creative Thought.

To accept the Thoughts of others, as advice or suggestion, without carefully, logically, reasoning on what you may hear or see or read, is ruinous; it is a form of hypnotism and easily becomes auto-suggestion, or a form of self-hypnosis. To entertain the Thoughts (spoken) of others without proving them true, is to allow others to do your thinking for you, and this you must learn to overcome. “Prove all things; hold fast that which is good” (1st Thessalonians 5:21).

The Thoughts which you, yourself, create must be carefully considered before acting upon any, and this necessitates control of every Thought and your conscious attitude; because, as has been said above, the attitude of mind depends upon what you think and, therefore, your environment, possessions, and the condition of your life depends upon your method of thinking.

The truth of that statement lies in the fact that you must be before you can do, and you will find you can do only to the extent that you are capable of doing, and that will depend upon what you are. And what you are depends upon what you have been thinking. You cannot express powers that you do not possess; and the only way in which you may secure, or develop, possession of power is to develop the ability to be conscious of Inner Power. And you cannot expect to become conscious of Power until you realize that all Power is from within you. You do not have to create or develop Inner Power; It is already within you. You only need to realize that Truth and think accordingly. This you will be taught to do.

1. Define Theological Science in your own phraseology.

Answer: Theological Science is the scientific explanation and understanding of the logical reasoning on, and the conscious application of, the principle of the individual’s spiritual at-one-ment with God (or Omnipotence, or Cosmic Mind), which is spiritually omnipresent and, therefore, interpenetrating all things, creatures, and beings, in and of existence, while permeating the All, or Whole, of the universe, at one and the same time, and the same at every point of His, or Its, Omnipresence.

2. How may we know, of a truth, that God or Omnipotence or Cosmic Mind is spiritually omnipresent?

Answer: By the proof of the equilibrium of the observable universe, as well as the corporeality of man. Nowhere in all of the observable universe is there the slightest indication of chaos; hence the recognition of the Cosmos. In the same way, the human body is subject to Law (Cause and Effect) and while the principles of the Law of Cause and Effect are observed and applied in Thought, the result is the equilibrium, or condition of well-being, that we recognize as health. The universal equilibrium, or balance, is the result of the sustaining or maintaining Influence of the Cosmic Mind, or God. The condition of health, or well-being, is due to the conscious conformity to principles of Law, or Cause and Effect, in the Thought processes of the human individual, the result of the influence of Mind in man, which is a definite part, or degree, of the spiritually omnipresent Mind of God, or Cosmic Mind.

3. Why is the first inhalation of the newly born infant known as the Life-giving Principle?

Answer: Because it is the animating Influence which begins Life in the infant body. (If the newly born infant does not breathe, or fails to inhale the first breath of life, it is known as a stillbirth and is disposed of by burial (interment) or cremation for purposes of sanitation. It did not “die,” because it never had “Life.”

4. Explain the meaning of “to be born again.”

Answer: The rebirth in spiritual understanding is a consciousness of the Spiritual Self…the awareness of the Truth that the Spirit of Man is a definite part or degree of the omnipresent Spirituality of God, which is innately and inherently within the living individual.

5. What is the cause of the distress in the lives and affairs of the majority of humanity?

Answer: Ignorance of one’s inner Spiritual Power.

6. Of what value is an understanding of the Power within you?

Answer: Understanding of the Power within leads to personal development and self-improvement, and so to the development of Consciousness of the Power and Intelligence of the “Inner Person” for outward or objective expression as ‘personality’, as well as for personal achievement through Creative Thought.

7. On what Truth were the ancient philosophers, thinkers, and Masters agreed?

Answer: On the Truth (1) of the Spiritual Omnipresence of God, or the Cosmic Mind, as a reign of universal Law: (2) proving the spiritual at-one-ment of God (Cosmic Mind) and man; and (3) the possibility of the individual’s conscious development of the ability to outwardly (objectively) express and manifest the inner spiritual, mental Power through the Creative Power of Thought.

8. Why is it true that the principles of Theological Science will be effective whether applied religiously or scientifically?

Answer: Because the individual’s Power is within, in subjective Mind, and not without, in the objective. Man’s Power is Mind. It is his Creative Energy—as the energy of Mind-in-motion—and the cause of any and every result, effect, or condition in his life and affairs. “As a man thinketh, so is he.” Whether the principle of this Truth is applied as religious Thought, or purely as scientific cogitation in the knowledge of the infallibility and immutability of the Law of Cause and Effect, results will be the same.

9. Define Personality.

Answer: Personality is the outward or objective expression of conscious understanding of the ‘inner’ person, or Self (or the lack thereof). Lack of appreciation (or ignorance) of one’s inner spiritual Power can result only in error or distress (because of the lack of control of the Thought processes). Realization of one’s spiritual inner Power, because of spiritual at-one-ment with God (or Omnipotence, or Cosmic Mind) must naturally result in the expression of a magnetic and dynamic Personality. Wisdom and Understanding confers Power.

10. What is the (basic) principle underlying successful achievement in any direction?

Answer: The Creative Nature (and Power) of Thought.
